Looking to add vibrant colour and texture to your garden this summer? Whether you’re filling pots, borders or hanging baskets, these popular summer flowers are sure to bring cheer and beauty to any space.

Geraniums (Pelargoniums)
A firm favourite for pots and beds, zonal geraniums are easy to care for and come in a wide range of colours – from classic red to soft pinks and crisp whites. They love a sunny spot and just need regular deadheading to keep blooming strong all season.

Begonias
Ideal for shady areas, begonias are low maintenance and bloom non-stop. Their soft pastel hues and lush foliage make them a go-to choice for containers and borders alike.

Calibrachoa (Million Bells)
These petunia-like flowers come in a rainbow of colours and are perfect for trailing over the sides of hanging baskets and window boxes. They thrive in full sun and bloom prolifically when fed regularly.

Dahlias
For bold, show-stopping blooms, dahlias never disappoint. Available in a wide array of shapes and colours, they make stunning border plants and cut flowers. Plant them in rich soil and full sun for best results.

Pansies
Though often associated with spring, pansies can keep flowering into early summer if kept cool. Their cheerful ‘faces’ are a welcome splash of colour in beds and containers.

Osteospermum (African Daisies)
These sun-lovers are known for their daisy-like flowers in purples, pinks, whites and yellows. They close at night and in cloudy weather – a fun quirk that kids love!

Celosia
With their vivid, flame-like flowers, celosia adds dramatic texture to beds and pots. They thrive in warmth and bring a tropical feel to any garden.

Cosmos
These airy, delicate flowers sway beautifully in the breeze. Perfect for cottage garden-style beds, cosmos are loved by pollinators and gardeners alike.

Campanula (Bellflower)
Campanula varieties like the Ambella are perfect for borders, containers, and even rock gardens. With their rich violet blooms and mounding habit, they provide great ground coverage and long-lasting colour.
Add a splash of purple like this!
🌿 Top Tip: For the best displays, mix textures and heights, and keep on top of watering and feeding during hot spells. Happy planting!
