If you’re looking to create a pollinator paradise, perennials are a fantastic place to start. These reliable plants return year after year and provide a steady source of nectar and pollen for bees, butterflies and other beneficial insects. Here’s a roundup of some of our top picks this season:

Salvia ‘Amistad’

Tall, striking spires of deep purple flowers on almost black stems – a real magnet for bees and a bold feature for beds or containers.

Blooms all summer with minimal fuss.

Geum

Cheerful and long-flowering, Geums come in fiery oranges and reds that bees love. Perfect for adding pops of colour to the front of borders.

Deadhead regularly to prolong the show.

Alstroemeria (Peruvian Lily)

These bright magenta blooms bring a tropical feel and offer long-lasting colour. Popular with bees and great as cut flowers too.

Compact varieties are ideal for pots or smaller gardens.

Hardy Geraniums (Cranesbill)

These soft, lilac-pink blooms are low maintenance, ground-covering and a firm favourite with pollinators.

Great for underplanting roses or filling gaps in borders.

Nepeta (Catmint)

Not just for cats! These purple-blue flowers are irresistible to bees and bloom for weeks on end.

Softly scented foliage makes it great for pathways and edges.

Icelandic Poppies (Papaver nudicaule)

Delicate, papery petals in glowing oranges and yellows sway in the breeze and offer easy access for foraging bees.

Plant in sunny spots with well-drained soil.

🌸 Bee-Friendly Tip:

Plant in clusters to make flowers easier to find, avoid pesticides, and choose a mix of early, mid and late flowering varieties for season-long food.

Let your garden come alive with the gentle hum of pollinators – it’s good for nature and good for the soul. 🐝💛
